Hazeldown School – Learning Values and Social Bond
Within the over-arching vision statement of ‘Learning for Living’, we have seven
learning values, which are a focus for much of our work in and beyond the
classroom. Our learning values support us in learning together as a school
community, developing and growing our abilities and understanding about ourselves
and others which , in turn, enables individuals to be well prepared for life beyond
Our Learning Values are:
• Being reflective
• Being resourceful
These are displayed outside the school hall and in every classroom, with examples of
how they have been used in practice. They are embedded in our every day life at
Hazeldown, being a focus for assemblies, planned and incidental discussion in
classrooms and both adult –led and spontaneous reflection by the children.
In addition to our Learning Values we operate a simple Social Bond, which
provides three guidelines to support everyone in understanding our expectations for
1. Everyone has the right to learn without disruption.
2. Everyone has the right to feel comfortable whilst at school.
3. Everyone has the right to not be hurt whilst at school.
