Rain Gauge Making!
In year 1, we have been learning loads about different types of weather, as part of our Splendid Skies topic.
As part of this learning journey, we have been finding out about different ways people can measure the rain fall, thinking about the reasons why farmers might need to do this.
We then got the chance to make our own rain gauges in school. We had to collaborate to create our rain gauges using plastic bottles, then think very carefully about where on the playground we wanted to place these.
We will use to measure how much rainfall we get over the next few days. We might even collect some snow!
This week in SOLE, we have been learning all about Sir Francis Beaufort as part of History.
We found out he invented a wind speed scale called the Beaufort Scale. This helps sailors to know the direction and force of the wind when they’re at sea so they can keep safe.
Today we got to show what we had learnt by creating posters to display the information we have found out.
This week, Oak class have continued working hard on our Tribal Tales topic.
We have been coming to the end of our Literacy topic, with lots of children preparing to write their diary entries from the perspective of a child during Pre-Historic Britain.
Look at these examples of brilliant writing!
It has also been great to see lots of you taking on both the French and Science tasks available this week.
The Science has focused on magnets, linking to learning about iron as part of our Iron Ages topic.
And in French, we have been learning the days of the week.
Keep up the great work Oak class and remember to keep sending in pictures of what you’ve been doing! 🙂

And look at Sienna’s amazing project on Pre-Historic Britain Gods and Goddesses!
It was also lovely to hear last week that some of you had been doing your own projects and helping out around the house.
Well done Oak class! Keep up the fantastic work and keep sharing what you’ve been up to with us.
Oak class have been busy again this week learning all about the Stone/Bronze/Iron Ages as part of our Tribal Tales topic.

It has also been really great to see lots of you getting started with our new diary writing topic, and learning lots about the type of language that will be suitable for this genre of writing.
We have also loved hearing about the other skills you have all been developing. For example, Honey and her brother carried out a really interesting experiment into why we should always wash our hands with soap and water.
Well done for all your hard work so far this week Oak class, and make sure you keep on sharing photos of what you have been up to with us!
Oak class have been really busy again this week with some great learning. It has been particularly impressive to see how many of you working through the different tasks we have set for you, doing a little bit each day.

This makes us feel very proud, so well done!
It has also been lovely to see some children taking on their own challenges and learning, thinking about the new skills they can develop.

It has been great to see Eva’s learning about the Stone Age!
Thank you for sharing your lovely Superhero, Gemma. We can see you worked really hard to include lots of detail – we like her weapon tail!
