Crafty Cherry create go karts! 14.12.20

Today, Cherry class became engineers and built their go karts! First, we had to think about the purpose of our karts and how they would work. Once we had gathered up all of our materials it was time to start building! Two at a time, we cut wooden dowel to the length of our boxes so we could attach wheels. If we weren’t cutting our dowel, we were decorating our karts and letting our imaginations flow. We can’t wait to test these out in our next science experiment!

Today, Cherry class became news reporters ready to create an newspaper article on a heroic/villainous battle. Half of us were reporters whilst the other half were eyewitnesses to the battle. As reporters, we asked lots of questions to build up a picture of what had happened. Then, we created speech bubbles with eyewitness’ statements written on them. Tomorrow we use these speech bubbles to practice writing with quotation marks.

Year 3 are really enjoying their learning journey (Predator) this term. We have seen such a variety of ways to be creative and share your learning. Keep sending us your pictures!!

We are so, so proud of the fantastic work that year 3 keep producing and sharing with us. We clearly have some budding performers amongst our year group.

Have a look at these videos:

This week the children have been developing their art skills.

Gemma sent in these wonderful works of art:

Just look at Sienna’s incredible predator collage:

Jem also really enjoyed making this wonderful collage; he was so proud of himself. And so are we Jem!

Frazer has even challenged himself to sew a shark!! (Not a real one, of course) Super work Frazer!

Keep sending in all of your fabulous work year 3. We are completely blown away with everything you are doing. We are so very proud of you all.

Year 3 continue to amaze us with their wonderful home learning.

Frazer has been planting his own flowers and has produced his very own little project on plants!

Nicholas has used objects around the house to support him with his maths lessons and has also produced a wonderful Haiku poem on his chosen predator!

Sienna and Jude have been working really hard on developing their understanding of the human skeleton and comparing it to the skeletons of various animals.

Whilst Billy took himself back to the Stone Age, on a visit to the beach!

Keep sending us in all of your wonderful work year 3!! You are all doing amazing!

This week, in year 3, we have been learning all about Haiku poems. Have a look at this fantastic performance from Sam!!

Last week, in Year 3, our focus was on the different parts of a plant and the functions of these parts. We also looked at collecting information on predators and producing our very own leaflets. Here are just a few of the amazing pieces of learning produced!

Archie worked super hard on all of these amazing powerpoints and just look at his leaflet!!!

Jayden put together this lovely, bright and informative leaflet on lions.

Evie put together this amazing leaflet on ‘Predators In Action’.

Fantastic effort Year 3!! Your IT skills have really progressed and we are so proud of you all!

Keep sending in all of your fantastic learning and we will share it on the blog.

Year 3 are continuing to produce some fantastic home learning! They are really enjoying their new topic of ‘Predators’, especially all of the wonderful science. Here are just some of the pictures they have been sending to their teachers……

Jayden put together this lovely fact file on the different parts of a flower.

Whilst Sienna completed her own science experiment, using celery, to see how the roots and stem absorb water. She then produced these wonderful food chains, showing us where animals get their energy from.

Alistair has really enjoyed learning all about predators and prey at home and also drew this fantastic picture of a ferocious leopard!!

Billy compiled his information from his week’s vocabulary lesson to put together a Glossary for our topic.

Evie has been working extremely hard on all of her home learning, sending in work daily for her teachers to see. She still makes sure she takes the time to look after her mental health and go for nice walks with her family. Just look at that view!!

We love seeing all of your pictures year 3. Please keep sending them in to us. We miss you all very much!!

Welcome back to everyone in Year 3, we hope you have all had a lovely half term!!

We are really looking forward to our new learning journey: Predators!! We can’t wait to see all the wonderful learning you will be producing over the next six weeks – don’t forget to keep sending us pictures of all the lovely things you are doing. Just like Jayden, from Cherry Class, has done with this amazing video on Muslim Worship. Have a look!

Jude has been practising his spellings and has produced these lovely Neolithic patterns!

Lola has made these fabulous posters and Jacob has enjoyed splashing in the waves during his spare time.

All of you are doing amazing and Mrs Prentice and Ms Tierney are very proud of you all.

Keep up the great work Cherry Class and keep sending us all of your lovely photos! Enjoy Half Term and we will speak to you very soon.

Everyone is working incredibly hard and learning so many new skills, whilst at home.

Nicholas made some delicious looking pancakes and decided to map out his house, calculating the perimeter of each room!! Well done Nicholas!

Jayden has produced this lovely video, talking about his ‘green zone’ from the ‘Zones of Regulation’ work in the Mental Health folder on our Google Drive. Super work, Jayden!

We have been so impressed with the range of learning that has been taking place over the last week. We love receiving your photos that show us your happy faces and all of the wonderful things you are doing!

Jacob has been working really hard at home and even found the time to make some lovely cakes!

Jude and Ethan, along with their football team, have been completing a 5k walk or run this week, raising over £500 for the NHS!! Such a great achievement, well done boys!

Jude then showed some resilience and resourcefulness when he didn’t have the ingredients to make salt dough, but still managed to make some wonderful prehistoric beakers.

Sam built an amazing fort in his garden, using recyclable materials, and Dylan has been busy working on his Stone Age information report. Great work boys!

Zac has been continuing his love of fractions; just look at all those calculations! Ali enjoyed camping outside with his brother and taking care of his chickens. Keep enjoying the fresh air Ali!! Fantastic work boys!

Clearly not content with writing an amazing information report, Dylan then went on to make this yummy cake! Looks delicious!

Keep sending us your photos and look out for them on the school blog! We miss you all and hope you are all safe and well. You are all learning some amazing life skills.

Take care 🙂

We have been so impressed with how creative Cherry class have been this week. Our current learning journey is focusing on ‘Tribal Tales’. Have a look at Evie’s and Jayden’s cave paintings and Tilly’s fort!!! Well done everyone. Little Bear has even been carrying out some activities whilst you are all at home.

It’s been wonderful to see all of the learning the children have been up to. Well done to all of you who have shared your work. If you would like your work to be shared to the blog, keep uploading it and keep checking in. We would love to see what you’ve been up to!! Don’t forget to send us pictures of all those life skills you are learning too!

Dylan has continued to produce beautiful handwriting whilst researching our CIP words!

Zac enjoyed our Fractions unit so much, he is independently continuing to learn about this topic.

Well done to each and everyone of you. Keep working hard and make sure you have plenty of time for playing too. We hope you are all happy and healthy. We miss you!!

Wow! What super readers you are in Cherry Class! First class to achieve 100% of your class target!

Cherry Class had great fun this afternoon at Dawlish Swimming Pool, as they started their swimming lessons. They are really looking forward to going again tomorrow!

After looking closely as Chinese dragons, Cherry Class have made their own dragon out of old cardboard boxes which were destined for the bin. We made sure it had a big mouth, sharp teeth, spiralling eyes, scales, spikes and a beard, as well as a pointy, flame-like tail, as we’d noticed that Chinese dragons always have these things.

The Green Team members from Year 3 and 4 will be using the dragon to perform their dragon dance at our celebration event later in the term!

Cherry Class have just finished the book they received for Christmas, ‘Pugs of the Frozen North.’ It was a FANTASTIC book which had them laughing out loud at various points. They’ve chosen to read ‘The BFG’ yet – hopefully it will be just as good!

Cherry Class are very proud to have raised nearly £80 at the cake sale they held just before the Christmas holiday. After much thought and discussion, they have decided to donate some of their proceeds to two charities which are very close to their hearts, ‘Cancer Research UK’ and ‘The British Porphyria Association.’

Thank you to everyone who supported us in raising this money!

Redwood and Cherry Classes welcomed their parents and families to their living musem this afternoon.  They displayed their knowledge of Vikings through a wide variety of activities involving jewellery making, longboats, dragons and ancient runes.

Cherry Class received an exciting letter in the post today! After trying to guess what it was and who it might be from, we opened it to find it was a reply from the library in response to the ‘thank you’ letters we had sent. As well as a letter and a card, Joanne also sent us all a bookmark.

Ben the Bear has had a wonderful half term holiday! He has enjoyed a sunny trip to Sidmouth, including playing with his new friend, Ginny the dog.

fullsizeoutput_101b

He devoured a MASSIVE slice of carrot cake which was almost as big as him!

In preparation for our new learning journey, he’s also enjoyed reading some Viking books and is excited about coming back to school to see what else the rest of Cherry Class have found out!

As a follow up to science week, today we headed to Teignmouth Community School to experience some interesting and exciting science experiments.

We had the opportunity to complete experiments ourselves, as well as watch demonstrations.

Cherry Class is now full of many budding scientists! We had a great time!
