Foundation- repeated patterns 14.11.16
In Maths today, we learnt about what a pattern is. We could see spotty, flowery and checked patterns on our clothes and we looked at animal print patterns on the board. We heard a clap, pat, clap, pat pattern which repeated over and over again. We then worked out the pattern rule and continued it ourselves. Throughout the afternoon children created their own repeated patterns in different ways. Look how clever we are…
What patterns can you spot around you? Bring examples in to show us if you can.
We had lots of fun investigating repeated patterns today and discovered patterns can be about colour, shape and size. We linked numbers, actions and claps to our patterns to develop our understanding. We will link these patterns to times tables soon. Alex even worked out he could make a pattern out of his name!
