Year 4 Mega Maths
We’ve been using our problem solving skills to solve the following problem:
By working in a systematic way, and utilising our mathematical reasoning skills, we’re well on our way to solving the problem. Some of us have been very resourceful, using physical resources to support us.

As part of our Mega Maths this week we tackled a problem to try and help Ben get his car out of the garage in as few a moves as possible. We discussed the various strategies we could use to help us in doing so and used a variety of resources to help us to solve the problem. Furthermore, we talked about how to solve such problems efficiently and in an organised and systematic way.
Have a go yourself – what is the lowest number of moves you can make?
A fantastic morning was had by Miss McManus’s maths group as they explored and used Cuisenaire rods to show the relationships between each of them. They problem solved, they took risks and they used reasoning to explain their understanding.
You have a very impressed teacher that is pleased with the talk for learning that took place alongside the enthusiasm and high level engagement!
Keep up the excellent work guys!
Monkey Puzzle have been extending their vocabulary, ready for their Big Write on Friday. They have ping-ponged the words and also played games to become familiar with them and knowing what they mean.
Do you know what these words mean?
unyielding / aghast / unassuming
Have a go at using them in a sentence!!
Today in maths, we have been exploring fractions. Our focus has been finding equivalent fractions and we discovered that fractions are like terrible twins…..What you do to the top, you HAVE to do to the bottom!
Year 6 have been applying their knowledge of the properties of numbers to solve a challenging problem! They used their knowledge of factors, multiples, prime numbers and square numbers (together with a lot of resilience!) to complete the challenge.
