Green Team – Doing the school proud!
In recognition of their hard work and mature approach to the green aspects of life, Green Team visited the Pinbrook recycling facility today and the Energy from Waste plant in Exeter to further their education.
They learnt a great deal and their manners and behaviour were complimented throughout – very proud.
Massive thanks to the Recycling staff but especially to Clare and Lorna for offering their time and talent to the trip too!
Yesterday a group of Year 5 and 6 children worked with Nicky Scott from Devon Recycling to put together the first of two Hot Boxes that we have bought through a recycling grant from Devon County Council. The grant has been supported by funds from the PTA and will enable us to recycle all our raw food waste on site, cutting down on our contribution to landfill and making some lovely compost to use in our garden at the same time!
Today the Green Team have been sorting through all the rubbish generated by Hazeldown School yesterday! We found all sorts of rubbish – paper, cardboard, food packaging, old pens and glue sticks. We were surprised at how big our pile of rubbish from one day looked, but we are excited with the plans we are making to reduce our waste.
