Text Tangrams! 22/11/18

Today, in literacy, Redwood Class have been exploring the features of a non-chronological report. Mrs Cooke cut up some pages from a book and we had to decide how to put them back together.  Do you think we did a good job?

Redwood Class have been using lots of different methods to help them learn their times tables today.

Today has been an awesome but VERY muddy day! Orange and Yellow groups spent the morning on the low adventure course, which included mud and river walks. The mud was so deep that some of us lost our shoes!! Fortunately, all shoes were retrieved and we all managed to safely complete the course. The smiles in the photos tell you just how much fun we’ve had!

Today Redwood Class had their final swimming session of the year. They have had great fun – journeys have been interesting due to the road works – it has taken us anything from 15 minutes to an hour to get to Dawlish! If anyone knows when the World Eye-Spy Championships are – we are ready for it! A member of staff at the Swimming Pool remarked that she loves it when our school come to visit because we are so well behaved! Well done Redwood Class!

This afternoon Redwood Class re-enacted the story of The Little Red Hen.

Or call Redwood Class! This afternoon we have been learning how to help with a medical emergency. We can clear your airway, put you the recovery position and bandage your head!  Thank you to the PTA for funding this important life skill!

Redwood Class have been finding out wether or not they can follow instructions.  The results were interesting!

In our blue and pink glory we raced for life today!

Redwood Class had a great afternoon scooting with Team Extreme! Check out our moves!

Redwood Class had an amazing day out at Devon County Show yesterday.  Here is just a sample of all the wonderful things they enjoyed.  A huge THANKYOU! to all our volunteers who came with us and made it all possible.

Mrs Cooke, Mr Evans and Mrs Jenkins are so proud of Redwood Class.  Last term, every single member of the class reached 100% of their target, or even more! Perhaps we should rename our class – READWOOD!

Year 3 and 4 enjoyed a sumptuous Chinese buffet today. In Redwood Class we were able to sample noodle dishes, Chinese pork, rice dishes and spring rolls.  We also had pudding in the shape of Rice Balls (tang yuan), fortune cookies and even lychee, which proved very popular! A huge THANKYOU to everyone who helped to prepare the food.

What do you think of our finished Dragon? We are really proud!

Redwood Class are busy creating their Chinese Dragon today. In groups of three they are collaborating to decide how their section of the dragon will look. Look out for our finished dragon later on today!

The children of Redwood Class have been really pushing themselves in the first half of this half term – Mrs Cooke and Mr Evans cannot believe how much they are reading and how successfully they are quizzing! All but two are off the start and some people are already in the upper half of our Redwood Tree! Keep up the good work!

Today Redwood Class have been busy making their own Terracotta Army.

Redwood and Cherry Classes welcomed their parents and families to their living musem this afternoon.  They displayed their knowledge of Vikings through a wide variety of activities involving jewellery making, longboats, dragons and ancient runes.

Redwood Class have been working so hard at their reading this week – nearly everyone has moved up the tree! Well done Redwood Class, keep up the good work!

Redwood Class have been putting their maths skills to good use – counting the money raised at the cake sale last Friday and dividing it up between the Royal British Legion, FORCE and a treat for the class.

Tug of War!

What happens when you add negative numbers? That is what Redwood Class have been finding out today.

Congratulations to all the members of Redwood Class who have climbed half way (or further!) up the reading tree today!
