SOLE work, Year Two, 9.1.17
In SOLE we have have started looking at the Great Fire of London.
Here you can find a link to a video that we have been studying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aX9ulzeCQGo
We have also started creating line drawings of what it might have looked like. To warm up our hands and practice our fine motor skills we watched Shoo Rayner first. You can see his ‘Why you should practice drawing video’ under our help my child learn tab.
Have a look at some we have done.
We have begun to apply this to drawing an image of London in 1666. It’s important for us to do drafts, improve each time and take our time. Have a look at the start of some of our firsts drafts. What could we do differently next time?
This week in SOLE we have taken inspiration from Shoo Rayner to draw patterns in boxes. This then helped us with following the steps to draw mehndi patterns.
Can you find more at home and practice your favourite one?
This half term, we are using our good friend Shoo Rayner again. Have a look at these videos and have a practice for SOLE!!
Remember anything you produce at home could be journaled in SOLE book.
Today the children challenges themselves to draw a Viking longboat. With the help of Shoo Rayner, the children used a line drawing and added detail with fine liner.
A recent visit from Shoo Rayner prolific British children’s author and illustrator inspired the children to create some amazing illustrations. Shoo spent two days with the whole school and the children had a wonderful time drawing on this experience as part of their SOLE learning.
Take a look at Shoo’s videos in the ‘Help My Child Learn’ section under Art.
Shoo Rayner recently visited Bonsai and Monkey Puzzle class and taught the children how to draw a wolf. He also talked to us about how to make a book and the importance of the illustrations to help tell the story.
Today in S.O.L.E year 6 have been completing a number of activities:
- Making circuits
- Building books
- Researching book styles
- Producing ‘Shoo Rayner’ inspired drawings.
This is an ongoing project that will continue until the end of term. Keep looking at the blog to see what we are up to next!
Respected and talented illustrator, artist and author Shoo Rayner popped into Year 1 to show us some of his trade secrets and tips on drawing! Ask your child all about their new found skills and get them to show you how to create your very own Shoo box!!!!!!!!
