Year 6, Ebony class – Brain science!
This afternoon, as part of our ‘Me, Myself and I’ topic, we received a workshop led by Thrive practitioner Mrs Hurt. We learnt about how we have three different parts of our brains and how they make us react in different situations. The workshop was really informative with hands on activities which we all enjoyed; especially the warm and fuzzys!
We now have a much better understanding of our emotions and why people may react in different ways to us.
Can you remember what the three parts are called and what they deal with?
What a great day had by all the children in year 5, who ventured over to Goodrington Beach for a workshop on Coastal Geography.
The day was spent learning about different wave formations, how towns are protected by different sea defences, coastal erosion, how fossils are made and so much more!
The weather was great and the children were a credit to Hazeldown School, showing great enthusiasm and engagement with all the activities.
As part of their class reward, the children from Monkey Puzzle asked to spend time baking. With the amazing support of Mrs Hurt aka ‘superwoman’ and Mrs McGrane, all 30 children baked a variety of cakes and sweet treats. These included: Rock buns, Easter biscuits, jam tarts, flapjack, buns and chocolate Easter nests! Not only did they bake all of these amazing this, but they also did the washing up!
Well done to everybody of Monkey Puzzle for working well as a team and supporting one another.
