A Firery Celebration! – 10/02/17 – Year 1 and 2
We did it! We finished our Great Fire of London topic with a fantastic celebration where we burned our model Tudor houses we made.
It was great to have everyone who came to watch the houses, bakery and cathedral burn down, including the firemen who stood ready to put it out.
Thank you to all the parents who helped with the building of the houses – it’s very much appreciated.
Apple Class have started to say goodbye to their Tudor houses in preparation for tomorrow’s celebration event.
Don’t they look just great?
Our building continued today as we added our stripes to our Tudor houses. We also managed to add tiles or straw to our roof and windows and doors as well.
Thank you to all our parents who helped today. They look fantastic!
This afternoon we continued to build our terrific Tudor houses! All children really enjoyed working in pairs to add to and build their own houses. A huge thank you to the parents and helpers that came in to offer guidance and support, it is much appreciated!
This afternoon all children began making their Tudor houses using their very own designs and plans. A huge thankyou to all the parents and helpers that came in to support the children and offer encouragement! All children now have a fantastic start and structure to their Tudor houses.
The student teachers in the school spent Friday afternoon making a model of a Tudor house. The children will be making one just like this.
They made a video to show us how they did it and what resources they used.
The children enjoyed watching this today as it helped them with their planning and designing of their own Tudor house.
Check it out!
In Year 2 this afternoon we started to design our own Tudor houses. First, we watched a video showing Tudor houses in the city of London and noticed what they were made out of and what they looked like to get some ideas.
We then looked at the Tudor House made by our student teachers and watched a video they have produced about exactly how they made it. We discussed what resources we will need to enable us to create our Tudor houses and made a note of this on our plan. When planning and designing our Tudor houses we used iPads to research what they looked like to support our ideas.
