Foundation – A Visit From a Vet – 12.5.22
Our topic is ‘Animal Safari’ and we have been learning all about different animals and how to look after them. We were so lucky to have a vet come in to visit us to tell us about all the animals she cares for. We planned for the visit by writing down the questions we wanted to ask. We found out that she looks after animals like dogs, cats and hamsters. We learnt that lizards and snakes would need to go to a vet specialising in exotic animals.
After the visit, we had great fun playing vets. We collaborated with our medical colleagues to bandage our poorly teddies and check that their hearts were beating well! We wrote notes about their care and telephoned their owners to tell them they were better!
Thank you so much to the vet for coming to see us and teach us so much about being a vet.
What is your Super North Star? Do you want to be a vet?
Welcome to our new police station role play area.
We have worked hard to organise it. We’ve got radios, police badges, torches and incident forms. We even have a teapot and cake to have in our break during a long shift!
Today we also had a visit from a police officer. We found out what it’s like to be in the police. We tried on police hats and clothing and even had fingerprints taken.
Can you remember all the things that the police do to help us?
Year 3 have visited Teignmouth Library today to start our learning journey all about bears. They found out more about the opportunities offered by the library, explored some of the amazing array of books, and listened attentively to the first chapter of ‘Paddington.’
We’d like to say a big thank you to the library for having us!
Today Farmer Joe came to visit us. We thought about ‘question’ words and used them to ask him what he has to do on his farm. He told us all about being a farmer. He even brought in some vegetables from his farm. They were still covered in soil so we scrubbed them clean! This was good fun but also helped us to strengthen the muscles in our fingers and arms which will improve our handwriting!
What do you think we will see at Pennywell Farm next week?
What a fantastic day we had at the Grammar School. The children were a real credit to school and were complimented by the Head Teacher on their impeccable behaviour. Well done boys!
We took part in some fantastic lessons; designing and making no our own bookmarks using a CAD/CAM machine, extracting DNA from peas and futsal.
A recent visit from Shoo Rayner prolific British children’s author and illustrator inspired the children to create some amazing illustrations. Shoo spent two days with the whole school and the children had a wonderful time drawing on this experience as part of their SOLE learning.
Take a look at Shoo’s videos in the ‘Help My Child Learn’ section under Art.
