Willow and Maple Class Zoo Trip
What a wonderful day we’ve had at Paignton Zoo to kickstart our new learning journey ‘Paws, Claws and Whiskers’. The rain held off, the sun shone and lots of the animals were out and about too!
Here are some of our favourite pictures:
Today, we learnt about different features of a diary and began to write a diary entry as an animal in the zoo (orangutan). We wrote in the first person and included:
- commas to mark clauses
- brackets
- apostrophe for contraction
- exclamation marks
- capitalisation for emphasis
- sarcasm
- allitteration
Check out our fantastic writing below:
Today we explored new vocabulary linked to our writing experience based on Anthony Browne’s Zoo. We used dictionaries to find out the meanings of the different words before using the words during our role play to describe how the animals may feel in their zoo enclosures.
Today the class looked at the story book ‘ZOO’ by Anthony Browne. In small groups the children then thought carefully about the how the animals would be feeling, as well as what they could hear and see.
The children really got into the role of the animal and thought about it if it was them in those enclosure.
