Hazeldown is divided up into four teams: Foundation Stage, Years 1 & 2, Years 3 & 4 and Years5 & 6.
We also run ‘Little Acorns’, our Pre-School and Nursery, led by Sam Boyer.
In addition to our classrooms, we are fortunate to have two additional classrooms, the Learning Lab and Command Centre, where group teaching may take place. We operate our Accelerated Reader programme from the Library.
Our Foundation stage has two classrooms which are connected by a communal play area where the children from both classes are able to join in activities together. There is an outdoor amphitheatre and covered play area enabling outdoor play to take place all year round.
We like to provide extra-curricular activities and lots of opportunities to learn something new and diverse. These include music tuition, sports clubs, teachers led voluntary clubs at lunchtimes and after school, choices normally change each half-term to offer children the opportunity to keep trying something new. Our mealtime staff also provide activities such as basketball and other games at lunchtimes to encourage the children to enjoy an active playtime.
The children experience a variety of school educational visits throughout the year, also attending swimming lessons from Year 3 to Year 6. Overnight residential stays begin in Year 2 with a school sleepover, followed by yearly residential visits in Year 3, 4, 5 & 6. A lot of preparation goes into the choice of residential to ensure the children experience something new with each venue.
We offer a breakfast and after school club with a full range of activities to help working parents.
