Year 2. Palm class. Occombe Farm Trip. 19.10.16. What a wonderful day!!!!

What a fantastic day we had. Our topic this half term has been “Healthy Me” and this was a brilliant finale that brought together so much of what we had been learning at school. We learnt about where our food comes from and saw how some of it is grown and reared. We had a tour of a working farm where we saw sheep, cows, chickens, ducks and goats. We also visited the vegetable garden which was ¬†full of so many different varieties of vegetables, fruit and herbs. The smells in the herb garden were wonderful. We picked tomatoes and herbs which we needed for our cooking.

The class kitchen was excellent – big enough for all 30 of us to make and cook our very own pizzas. We used just flour, yeast and all the yummy things we got from the garden, plus some tomato sauce and of course some cheese!! No additives or E numbers in sight!!! We loved kneading the dough and adding all the herbs. All our pizzas were baked in the ovens and we took them home for tea!
