Please encourage your child to read for at least 15 minutes at least five times per week. Please record what you have read in your reading record.
Like reading, Spelling is very important for your writing. Spellodrome will have targeted spelling lists each week linking to the lessons in class. Challenge yourself and see how many points you can earn!

Over the next 3 weeks you must complete an activity/series of activities that total at least 15 points. How you choose to do so is up to you! For example, you may choose to do the fifteen-point activity or you could do a ten point and a five point activity; you could also choose to do three five-point activities – it is completely your choice! Have a look at the activity menu below:
15 Points (Approx 3hr per activity)
Milites, ut parati! Roman soldiers wore a uniform and armour to protect them in battle. Make a ‘cassis’ or ‘galea’ to protect you from deadly blows to the head! Draw out your design, making sure it’s in keeping with the traditional designs!
This could be worn to the celebration event on 13thFebruary
|Poor or Rich?|
Follow a recipe for the staple food of a poor Roman family. Make simple porridge or bread, following original recipes. Compare this fare with the foods of the rich – who would they rather be?
Take photos and write up how you felt after each meal.
10 Points (Approx 2 hrs per activity)
|Gladiator Diary Entry|
Write a diary entry of a full day of a Roman gladiator. Can you find out what that ate? What training they did? And understand how they might have felt going into battle?
|Draw a Gladiator|
Can you draw a Roman Gladiator and label the clothing and weapons they would carry as they went into the Colosseum?
Find out about famous gladiators including Spartacus, Commodus, Crixus, Carpophorus, Marcus Attilius, Priscus and Flamma, Spiculus, Verus and Tetraites. Create a poster about their chosen character, advertising their powerful qualities to other gladiators.
5 points (Approx 1 hr per activity)
|TT Rockstars or Numbots|
1 hour (split into at least three chunks) of TT Rockstars or Numbots.
Choose 5 words from the year 3/4 spelling list and practice in the style of personalised spellings (rainbow write, pyramid write or bubble write).
Create a time line of 10 Roman Emperors (there were roughly 70 in total).
Write a description about Boudicca. Who was she and why was she so important?
