After completing their autobiographical big writes, the children have been deepening their understanding of the written word by margin marking the sections of text the teacher has highlighted in green for good quality. By stating what is good about a piece of writing and/ or self correcting anything marked in pink this will then help to develop their meta cognition and thus allow them to redraft and further improve their own writing. In order to do this effectively the children have needed to embed their knowledge of the different word classes. This new approach is already having a positive impact on the children’s learning thus devloping a growth mindset approach.
