Dinosaur tracks appeared on the playground today. Year 5 have been learning how palaeontogists find out information about dinosaurs using trace fossils. Today in maths, they had to measure the stride length and footprint size of the tracks and use this to determine whether the dinosaur was walking, trotting or running. To do this, they needed to find the average stride length, and the hip height of the dinosaur. They then used a formula to find out how quickly the animal was moving.
