Today Year 5 have been finding out how big a kilogram is. The children have been weighing numerous objects so that they have a visual image of how big a kilogram is. They found out that it depends on what they weigh; a litre of water is a kilogram, about 10 apples or several books ( depends on how thick they are!) If you would like to continue this work at home, have a look in your kitchen cupboards note the weight on the package. Is it in grams or kilograms? Do bigger things weigh more?
