Year 6 – Crazy about Fibonacci


The children have been looking at the work of famous mathematicians and how their work influenced others. The classes looked at the Fibonacci sequence of 0 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34 … They were amazed to find out how the sequence linked to nature and the real world.

We spent the lesson making Golden Spirals, which can be seen in seashells and within the human ear. These girls went one step further and couldn’t stop, producing a giant sized Golden Spiral.
